AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
My responsibilities include development of remote disease detection and high throughput phenotyping platforms and analysis pipelines utilizing UAVs. This work is designed to reduce the time and human power required for disease scouting in agricultural production and enhance breeding programs by automating part of the phenotyping workload and allow for more informed selections.
I also maintain a molecular biology component, using genetic engineering to enhance plant productivity in the field. I am currently collaborating with industry experts to develop new sugar beet varieties that are resistant to viral infection. In addition, I enjoy interacting with and mentoring the department’s graduate student community.
