Research

My program involves development of disease management strategies and IPM programs for crops grown in Montana with emphasis on potatoes and sugar beets. Approaches being used include biological control with phyllosphere and rhizosphere inhabiting organisms, host plant resistance, cultural practices, and chemical control. The ecology ad epidemiology of plant pathogens and biocontrol organisms is of particular interest as is grain storage pathology and mycotoxicology. I have both Extension and Research responsibilities.

Area of Responsibility

Plant pathologist; research on potato and sugarbeet diseases, biological control of soilborne pathogens and noxious weeds and development of integrated disease management programs. Extension responsibilities include education programs on diseases of row crops (corn, dry beans, potato, and sugarbeet. Teaching responsibilities include teaching PSPP 551/552 Fungal Diseases, PSPP 422 Plant Disease Management and Control, PSPP 524 Advanced Plant Pathology.
