Giseli Valentini
Updated February 2026
General variety descriptions are based on performance in multi-year/location yield trials that were grown using recommended conventional wheat farming practices. Actual variety performance may vary, depending on local growing conditions and farming methods. All varieties listed are PVP protected.
MT 457 (MAES release, 2018):
MT 457 is a semi-dwarf green cotyledon pea with tendrilled leaf morphology. It attains a plant height of between 60 and 110 cm depending on the growing condition environment. Plant morphology is primarily a single stem, however, branches from the lower stems may appear under good growing conditions. MT 457 has white flowers with 2 flowers borne at each reproductive node. Three flowers at a single node is possible, but rare. A single plant produces flowers and pods at between 3 and 6 nodes depending on growing conditions. MT 457 is a higher protein variety.
MT BRIDGER (MAES release, 2024):
MT Bridger was released by Montana State University in 2024 and is the first chickpea variety released from the MSU pulse breeding program! MT Bridger is a high yielding, large seed kabuli chickpea! The large seed size and physical seed appearance of MT Bridger makes this variety acceptable to be sold in markets for both whole seed as well as in processed markets such as for hummus. MT Bridger has very good Ascochyta blight resistance!
